Attending Bonfire

Attention Parents

We encourage everyone to attend the community bonfire tonight beginning at 6 pm and stay as long as they like.
However, we have had questions concerning whether or not parents are required to be present while their students are here,
and we'd like to clarify that information.

1. If your child has pre-purchased their homecoming dance wristband, then you are allowed to drop your student off at the bonfire and pick them up at the end of the dance. Please be sure your child has the wristband on.
2. Students that do not have a pre-purchased wristband for the homecoming dance must have a parent present at the bonfire. If your child wants to attend the homecoming dance, they can buy a wristband at the door for $7. Once the child has entered the dance the parent can leave and return to pick them up after the dance.
3. Any students who are only attending the bonfire and not the homecoming dance are required to have a parent present.

The Homecoming Dance is from 7:15 pm - 9:15 pm

Where is the bonfire taking place?
Near the tennis courts and track in the back of the school.
Isn’t there a burn ban?! Are we really having a bonfire?
Yes, but we have received clearance to have host the bonfire through the Manchaca Volunteer Fire Department, who will be onsite and monitoring the bonfire at all times.
Who can come?
Anyone! Future students, current students, alumni, along with parents and the surrounding community are welcome. We’d love to have you experience Bear Spirit!
Can I drop off my students?
No, for safety and supervision reasons we are asking that parents accompany students to bonfire.
Is there a dance that night too?
Yes! The Bailey Athletic Boosters will be hosting a Homecoming Dance the same night. The Dance starts at 7:15 and ends at 9:15. It will be held inside the school café. Tickets are $5 each. Concessions will be available.
Who can attend the Homecoming Dance?
Current Bailey students (6th, 7th and 8th graders) with their student ID
Who will be participating in the Pep Rally?
The Pep Band, Football Teams, Cheerleaders, Star Strutters
How much money should I bring?
The Bonfire is a free event. Both PTA and the Athletic Boosters will be selling Concessions.
What kind of food will be sold at the bonfire?
Hot dogs, Sausage wraps, Pizza, chips, candy, pickles, sodas and water.

What do I bring?
Chairs and blankets to sit on. Money for concessions.

Bailey Homecoming Bonfire and Dance Friday 10/9/15 6pm - 9pm. Parents must accompany students who only come out to attend the bonfire.

Please come out and support our Football Team!! PTA will be sponsoring this bonfire event. Come hear our Pep Band, see our Cheerleaders, and cheer on our Football team. Concessions will also be available. Our Athletics Boosters will be sponsoring the Student Homecoming Dance (7:15pm - 9:15pm). Tickets for the dance will go on sale October 5th - 9th during lunchtime only. Tickets are 5.00 in advance/7.00 at the door. Please see FAQ's for more information.

Students WILL BE allowed to wear homecoming mums Tuesday October 13th. Please read the specifications to do so.

Students will be allowed to wear mums or arm garters to celebrate Homecoming Game Day on 10/13.

Mums and arm garters must be reasonable in size and not too distracting. Please look for mums in the 4 inch range (leave the large mums for high school). If pinned at the shoulder, ribbons and items hanging from the mum should not hang below the waist (approx. 12-16 inches). Lights, bells, etc., should not be used.

Please keep in mind that the more elaborate the mum, the more likely it is to be considered a distraction to teaching and learning. Teachers will have the discretion to take it up and hold it until the end of the school day. Students should also be advised that mums will need to be left in their lockers for any PE, athletics, or dance classes.
